Pahdo Labs is making Starlight Re:Volver, a cooperative multiplayer action rogue-lite set in an anime inspired world. In Starlight Re:Volver, Divers travel between the lush, cutting edge Nishi Island Metropolis (NIM) and the virtual world of So Mi in pursuit of riches and stardom.
We are a 30-person team located in New York City, Vancouver BC, and across the world. Our team uniquely combines industry veterans from Riot Games, Capcom, Bungie, and WayForward with technologists from Google, Meta, and Robinhood.
π§ The Role
We're seeking a talented mid-level Sound Designer for a 3-month contract (with options for renewal) to help transform the visual eye-candy of Starlight Re:Volver into a full-sensory experience that makes our playersβ eardrums dance with joy! You'll collaborate closely with our art, design, and engineering teams to turn the raw material from So Mi dives into sonic gold that enhances gameplay, builds immersion, and reinforces our game's unique aesthetic.
π What Youβll Do
- Craft ear-tingling SFX for everything from menacing enemies to epic boss battles
- Team up with our Senior Sound Designer and creative squads to ensure every kaPOW, sparkle, and glitter bomb punches players right in the nostalgia feels while combining modern design sensibilities
- Weave your audio alchemy into our existing mix structure
- Jump into audio reviews where team feedback and iteration helps bring a cohesive touch to our established aesthetics and gameplay mechanics
- Take initiative to build relationships with other disciplines and embed yourself within our cross-department jam sessions!
π« Your Build Stats
- 2-4 years of professional sound design XP for games
- Proficiency with your DAW and plugins of choice (bonus points for vintage anime techniques)
- You know your way around middleware like Wwise or FMOD
- Ability to create sounds that reinforce game mechanics and enhance player feedback
- Strong communication skills and organized approach to work
π Bonus Buffs
- Experience with anime-style games or media
- Previous work on multiplayer or live service games
- Knowledge of Unity or Unreal Engine (bonus for scripting experience, too!)
- You and version control systems (Git, Perforce, etc.) are on a first-name basis
- A love for action RPGs, multiplayer games, and anime/manga
