About Pahdo Labs
Pahdo Labs is making Starlight Re:Volver, a cooperative multiplayer action rogue-lite set in an anime inspired world. In Starlight, Divers travel between the lush, cutting edge Nishi Island Metropolis (NIM) and the virtual world of So Mi in pursuit of riches and stardom.
We are a 25-person team located in-office in New York City and remotely across the world. Our team combines industry experts from Riot Games, Capcom, and WayForward and technologists from Microsoft, Meta, and Robinhood.
We have raised over $17.5M in seed and Series A funding from Andreessen Horowitz Pear VC BoxGroup , and Neo, as well as Zynga founder Mark Pincus, King founder Riccardo Zacconi, Eventbrite founder Kevin Hartz, and Cyan Banister.
The Role
As a software engineer at Pahdo Labs, you will leverage your expertise in gameplay, UI, and backend engineering to bring Starlight Re:Volver to life.
Responsibilities
- Develop gameplay systems, user interfaces, and backend services to support a rogue-lite action RPG with MMO elements
- Work comfortably within a game architecture for a server authoritative, multiplayer game with prediction/rollback netcode
- Work closely with designers and artists in a collaborative and iterative fashion
- Ship code quickly and build software with a game design or product mindset
Required Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills and self-awareness
- Exceptional problem-solving ability
- Expertise with modern programming languages such as Go, C#, C++, Python, etc.
- 6+ years experience in professional software engineering, 1+ years experience in Unity, exposure to multiplayer game development
Desired Qualifications
- Past experience with UI programming and web development in React/Typescript
- Familiarity with working with distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL and distributed key-value stores
- Love for our references: Hades, Slay the Spire, anime, classic MMOs
